A student forever. Sonja Hannus is a yoga teacher based in Helsinki. She teaches yoga and mindfulness with well-tailored concepts for specific groups, such as athletes, children, business people, women and men. She believes that majority of any disease originates from stress, and can be healed through practise of yoga & meditation.
My yoga has evolved from on off trials since 2013 into a lifestyle. I've been practising yoga since 2012 and completed my RYT200 in Rishikesh, India. My practise has been influenced by different teachers and yoga styles in my home towns: Helsinki, New York City, Hong Kong, Cape Town and India. My teaching style thus evolves from hatha, ashtanga, katonah, aerial and yin yoga. I am an curious student of eastern philosophies - ayurvedic and chinese - and incorporate traditional wisdom in my teaching.
Yoga is the union of mind, body and breath. By being present, we can look our fears eye to eye and let go of old that does not serve us - thoughts, beliefs, blockages. Through yoga & meditation we can start identifying blocks that prevent us from being happy and healthy, and gradually let go. Yoga is a wonderful transformation journey.
My personal passion in life is sports - not only yoga but hiking, tennis, cross country & downhill skiing, golf, surfing, diving, running, cycling, swimming, ballet and pilates too. Next I wish to climb up mountains and do boxing. I love sports. And I believe having a yoga practise - including mindfulness & breathing exercises, will transform our performance in other sports. Join me for Yoga for Athletes courses and classes.
Yoga makes me feel grounded, see more clearly. It gives me tools to go over any obstacle in life, and explore my potential. I do yoga to explore the unconscious patterns I do in my daily life. It is when we are conscious allows us to change the patterns. Through conscious repetion of something that will serve us better, can we transform. Through moving in yoga poses, can we create more space in our body for the organs to function more optimally.
