Yoga is the union of mind, body and breath. By being present, we can look our fears eye to eye and let go of old that does not serve us - thoughts, beliefs, blockages. Through yoga & meditation we can start identifying blocks that prevent us from being happy and healthy, and gradually let go. Yoga is a wonderful transformation journey.
A student forever. Sonja Hannus is a yoga teacher based in Helsinki. She teaches yoga and meditation with well-tailored concepts mainly for organizations such as athletes, children, and businesses.
Sonja believes that majority of any disease originates from stress, and can be healed through a consistent practise of yoga & meditation. She believes that knowing your body and being a witness of the mind is the foundation for transformation towards health and good life. Sonja's yoga has evolved from on-off trials into a lifestyle. She's been practising yoga since 2012 and completed her RYT200 in Rishikesh, India. Later she has taken a yin yoga teacher training with Mia Jokiniva, and aerial TT with Elisa Kuuttila.
Her practise has been influenced by different teachers and yoga styles in her previous home towns: Helsinki, New York City, Hong Kong, Cape Town and India. Her teaching style thus evolves from hatha, ashtanga, katonah, aerial and yin yoga and is inspired by all of her teachers. She is an curious student of eastern philosophies - ayurvedic and chinese - and incorporates traditional wisdom in her teaching.
"Yoga makes me feel grounded, see more clearly. It gives me tools to go over any obstacle in life, and explore my potential. I do yoga to explore the unconscious patterns I do in my daily life. It is when we are conscious allows us to change the patterns. Through conscious repetion of something that will serve us better, can we transform. Through moving in yoga poses, can we create more space in our body for the organs to function more optimally."
